Day 7: Time flies... Back to time being our most valuable resource. Definitely feeling it now. A phull week has gone by. There's no place like home. Felling sentimental this am. I think that is a good feeling to wake up too. Remembering Anh.
 |
| Yesterday was out last goodbye to Anh. Weep weep everyone. |
Onward. Waking up in Hoi An. I was still also thinking about how great our dinner was at Morning Glory. Our view from our room is also Morning Glory. Love the Four Seasons. It's special and feeling grateful, along with sentimental.

A room with a view

I'm not going to take a bunch or room pics and show how we are staying in such an amazing hotel. For some reason I draw a line. It makes me feel like I'm trip boasting or something like that. My intent with the blog is not to trip drop, I'd rather trip share or trip inform. So sorry for any unnecessary boasting. However, if you can swing it and you're in Hoi An, the Four Seasons is fucking awesome. The outdoor shower is especially fire (as my kids would say).
 |
| Outdoor shrinkage session. Sorry Wendy. |
 |
| Simon says take your hands off your schmeckle and place them on your head |
For clarity, Rob and I did not share the same outdoor shower.
Good morning Michael. My initial impression is that he knows everyone and his kinda the Mayor around here. Also, he's been very open to switching up the agenda. I like his go with the flow attitude. He wants to make sure we get what we want out of Hoi An. He's married. 2 kids. 55 years old and looks 42. Michael's doing something right.
 |
| Cool Hand Mike |
Our first stop today is an ancient city built in the 4th century. That seems old. Do you think they celebrated New Years in the early century's like we do now. Like in the first century, in Year 2, did they say, "Happy New Year." Congratulations everyone, we made it to Year 2. I never thought we'd get here. August was rough.

| Vietnam New Year's Countdown... |
The name of the city we are visiting is My Son. It means My Son. Michael started to explain the history of My Son, the temple, the people etc. But it's 92 degrees today in the shade. Heat and my attention span don't mix well. Mike, are we walking all the way up the blue line?
 |
YOU ARE HERE

 |
| First stop: My Son Wet T-Shirt Contest. Thanks Mike. |
Next up. I think that's the temple. Kinda looks like a temple. Wow, no protestors. What a relief. Don't get me started about protestors. Uh, do it at home. Post something on social media. Let it out, I get it. But stopping traffic and invading other's space, is not cool. Don't worry I won't write about the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. But we did travel to Israel in 2012. See Blog

One way to feel younger is to keep doing things that you did when you where in your 20's. Another way is to stand in front of a structure that is around 1,600 years older than you.

| Mo-Phos in Champa Kingdom. Feeling youthful. |

...4 (or 8) beautiful sweaty _______ (rhymes with pits). No you didn't. |
We decided to pray our way out of My Son. My Son is Reid. Who is your Son?
 |
Pray for our family and friends
 | | Pray for our for wives |
 | And Doodles says, "Pray for Mandingo" May the girth be with you...
Oh Mikey. It's getting really hot here in temple town. And one Mo-Pho is really, really, really ready to go to lunch and get the F out of My Son. Yes, it's time to play, name that Mo-Pho.

Where's Brad-O?; Brad and the 7 Dwarfs; Mista Bradson
Off to lunch. Michael took us to a very cool spot on the waterfront called the Old Boat. Looks fantastic.
 | | Mo-Phos rocking the Old Boat. Another win for Michael |
Laura may have enjoyed the Old Boat the most. | | More vegetarian, plant-based, non-additive, hold the mayo, dressing on the side, lettuce please. |
Food recommendations from tour guides are key. We only have so many meals. So far, Mikey is 2 for 2. Both restaurants I would highly recommend. The Old Boat may have been our best meal yet, or very close to Morning Glory Hole.
After lunch, we got on bikes and rode to this place. Guess the destination.

Group message anyone? Nope. It's a silk factory. What? Ok, go with the flow. When in Hoi An. Wow, they are serving us pizza to start the tour? | | Nope. These are silkworms. Then turn into.... |
 | | Moth balls that turn into silk. |
 | | Tiger Silkstress |
It's pretty amazing. They turn worms into silk. And then there is a team handmaids that embroider just about anything. You can give them a picture and they can embroider it.
Jim and Carol from Florida
Handmaid's slave work. But looks good. See Jim's head
They can actually make any piece of clothing out of material. They took us into the shop and believe it or not I bought 3 shirts and a suit. Great saleswomen on the floor. I think the turning point for me is they measure you in the slave area and then the finished product gets delivered to your hotel room. I'm a big fan of room service.
After fitting some did some footing.
Higher please.
And some yachting... |

Captain Feinberg
And some relaxing

The rest of the day was enjoying each other and more room service.
